particularly interesting in June and the first half of July, not only because of the beautiful nature and long days in
that period , but also as prices are still low
for renting a cottage !

Apart from the possibilities already mentioned , like a
stay at our place in combination with theme walks , a tour with or without
the company of a donkey and staying in different tourist structures , or
combined with other outdoor activities , we now also realised a special
arrangement for walkers with the choice of staying in our B & B
or in one of our
holiday cottages .
Choosing the B & B formula you enjoy your breakfast
and dinner with us , and if you wish we
will prepare you some
sandwiches for a picnic lunch .
|
|
Staying in a holiday cottage you are self – catering
, the cottages are equipped with
a modern kitchen and shops only 1 kilometre away .
This arrangement is available as from half of May as to half of
October , and can be booked either individually or as a (small or bigger) group.
It concerns one fixed residence , La Combette at Saint Jean du
Bleymard, from where every day and during 6 days another walk from 6
to 8
hours has been mapped out for you , offering a large variety of landscapes, centuries old farms and other
samples
of cultural heritage .
In
spring an enormous amount of wild flowers add to the joy of splendid walks
, as do the mushrooms ( among which the locally much appreciated cep ! ) in autumn .
Descriptions of the walks and detailed maps are put at
your disposal .

Description of the suggested walks,
per day
Day 1 : Walk towards and on top of the Mont Lozère ( 1699 m. )
, 7 to 8 hours , ± 23 km. , going from 1060 to 1699 metres , and back .
Magnificent views , in granite sculptured
Malta
crosses reminding us of the former reign of
Malta
knights here, large sheep herds …
|
|
Day 2 : Walk along the foot of
the Mont Lozère , 5 ½ to 6 hours , 22 km. and between 980 and
1210 m.
With among other things a beautiful view on
the ruins of a feudal castle
, some “ menhirs “ ( vertically placed granite stones of which is not
known why they were , long time ago , put the way they are ( maybe a
religious meaning ? ) ), and passing the hamlet of Oultet with its bell
for stress of weather .
Day 3
: Walk in the
Margeride area , north of La Combette and situated just on the other side
of the Goulet range of hills ; 5 hours , 19 km. , and between 1170 and
1463 meters , with a short car
transfer towards and from the point of departure . Plateau , many small
streams and green meadows with cows and sheep , railway with snow barriers
.Contrast with other walks.
Day 4
: Walk of the
bells for stress of weather , 4 ½ hours
+ short car transfer ( or leaving on foot from La Combette , then adding
± 3 hours ) , 18 km.
and walking between 980 and 1350 m . . These kind of bells , found in a
lot of hamlets on the Mont Lozère , used to be rung in case of stress of
weather , so shepherds and other travellers could find their way back to a
village . Quite some people found death on this mountain because of its
quick changing weather conditions , especially in winter….
Day 5 : Walk to the
source ( -s ) of the river of
the
Lot
. About 6 hours
, between 1060 and 1286 meter. Via a stretch on the Goulet range of hills
towards the spot where the
Lot
finds its source. Splendid nature , much forest and
beautiful views , among other things on the Mont Lozère.
Day 6 : Walk to the
ruins of the
Tournel
Castle
( 12th century ) , 7 to 8 hours , ± 12 km. and between 1060
and 1230 meter. This rather well preserved castle is situated on a hill
close to the
Lot
and offers a nice view ;also passing several hamlets with
well preserved farms , and enjoying some marvellous views .
Of course you can change the order of
the hikes to your liking.
